Wrathrone
Eve Of Infliction
Great Dane Records
Most of all, Wrathrone from Finland allowed their songs to be produced using low-tuned guitars, breaking-stone growls and solid concrete drumming. You also can hear some faster drum beats throughout the album. Skeleton of songs and album production is very death metal which interests me pretty much.
There are 3 regularities in music of this band that make this album sounds like an old school death metal that is leaning toward few sub-genres in a way... Eve Of Infliction has tracks that have a typical feel of Scandinavian death metal, f.e. song Heartless Absolute or Infliction – this one has pretty cool, catchy lead, as it`s in the beginning of the track. When band plays guitar solos, the music has more of a death`n`roll vibe, which adds nice diversity (As The Knife Cuts Deep ) to their song writing. Third regularity is a melodic death metal that they play in a few songs where music is more aggressive and dynamic, has sort of thrashier riffs in music as well (Leader Of The Lost), but they never give up on death metal brutality that goes along with it. Melodic differently - with more intensified rhythmic guitars is the song called Darkness Concealing Chaos. If you like Bolt Thrower style death metal, track We Feast On Fear shall fulfils your needs just fine. Heavier song of Wrathrone is Web Of Lies, here I realized that their singer has really enormously deep and brutal vocals on this record. Song like Sane – Unsane has dark and melodic guitar leads which contribute well to traditional death metal that they play massively on this record. This track has a flavour and roots of Scandinavian death metal from the 90`s era, and music reminds me of bands like Entombed, Dismember, At The Gates.
Eve Of Infliction by Wrathrone is an extreme yet smoothly going metal album. The songs are well composed and vary, good stuff.
