Worselder
Paradigms Lost
Sliptrick Records
If extreme metal is in your everyday playlist then better drop off any thought on that because this French band Worselder is as unorthodox as metal can be...
Paradigms Lost is trying to move on the sound and have a bit unconventional approach to modern music so Worselder is not like hundreds other bands you are bored to death to hear from time to time. They using a lot of melodies and catchy vocals to simply success with songs they write. If they did not sound metal, they could appear as a very good, hard rock band as well. But as they do, and play groovy/thrashy tracks here, the songs are heavy enough, to talk about them as conventional thrash metal as well. However they are free of extremity of metal which thrash often does. This album is also natural selection of hard rock/stoner/heavy metal influences hidden under surface of their music. It`s the force that makes Paradigms Lost pretty special album the way they perform it, which sometimes is pretty unique in guitar arrangements. Their sound, it is a factor that makes them sound like a metal band. Possibly, it is good fortune for this release that it happens to be very surprising in most parts. The songs have its glamour and brilliance and once you start to appreciate certain sequences of it, you probably will not let that flow go until the end of the album. Fortunately for me, they are a bit unpredictable, their music ideas play on my desire to hear next and another really superb riff or amazing vocal appearances they are likely to have. Music has all elements in place, either if they play melodic or more aggressive, they reveal good taste of music. Just to tell you how wide spectrum of influences they have, I found some random elements of Earthone9 (modern sound and music wise), Paradise Lost (some guitar solos), Acid Drinkers (thrash and core approach), Intrinsic (some vocals). At the same time, they do not sound like any of them which say about their strong music identity they worked out in those individual characters of songs. There are 10 tracks on the album and no matter what, most of them always sound good to my ears: These are my favorites: Infighting, Title song, Seeds Of Rebellion, Home Of The Grave, Land Of Plenty.
It is very good album, much better than average one and just sounds as good as METAL does which is all you need.
