Wolf Counsel
Ironclad
Czar Of Bullets/Czar Of Crickets
Ironclad is a monumental journey to the progenies of doom metal with bands like Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Candlemass, High Inquisitor Woe (new generation).
Wolf Counsel is inspired by British heavy metal but their modern sound moving forward everything they do. Either it`s clean, majestic vocals or low tuned guitars they have entered a Little Creek studio and crafted a sound, up to nowadays standards and expectations.
They merge new music with old fashioned style of song writing that brings a grace and refreshment to this wonderful genre which is a doom metal. Songs on the album just throw magic spell on me and turn their sorrow, monstrous and heavy riffs to make me feel rather full appreciation to whatever they do with the album. Epic and nostalgic songs are integral part of this as well. All these elements born moments of reflection and sometimes I swear that I could walk in a bloody-rainy day in autumn to just achieve full integration with Ironclad songs that play my headphones in such intrigue scenery along the music. Wolf Counsel song`s approach is slow, crushing its way and is like spiritual transcendent of baroque music that translate it from the past to our times. I found those elements in some tracks but it is not a main force driving their efforts. A 7 compositions drawing so different emotions, literally from everything DOOM to the point when sound and their ideas match and work for the album as ONE. I find it often and that`s why I think this CD deals only with solid and strong musicianship which they prove when I play entire album.
Second LP of this Swiss band is pretty outstanding and is a great representation of European doom metal scene and the band itself.
