Unborn Suffer
Nihilist
Selfmadegod Records
I finally feel I am getting a better knowledge about Polish extreme scene and grind in particular. Last year was a breakthrough and for now, this trend continuous with Nihilist. Unborn Suffer is a band from Bydgoszcz, northern Poland, the country that producing many really memorable and brutal releases every year.
Unborn Suffer sounds familiar to some bands but their view on grind/death brings a lot of freshness so I stop at nothing with any comparisons this time. Nihilist makes some differences the way I know grind. First of all, their style playing bass parts with clangs and metallic sounds, it`s not what you can hear every day. It`s the instrument clearly exposed which is like an extra boost to the production of the album, a ticking bomb to the sound that thrills it. Second, drummer uses expanded drum kit so with super fast drumming and excellent techniques come some funny sounding motives you should recognize when you hear it. Guitars are genuinely tracked throughout the album with heavy, slamming death metal elements and breakdowns. It spices everything up and this trio, all together is making their sound just super hot and grind. Vocal parts are type of growls and screams but it`s just extremely well done as everything else on the record.
Nihilist is a modern sounding album and in the studios (Post Abortum-recording session and Invent Sound-mixes and mastering) they really used its capabilities to trigger their brutality and music bloodshed. Unborn Suffer is a band with character. They have their perception the way grind should sounds like and they bring fresh ideas to the genre, very little but enough to keep their name in back of my head. Nihilist is a very good, quality album and so is Unborn Suffer with their tunes. You can`t miss it!
The band is:
Damian Bednarski - vocals, guitar
Piotr Wiśniewski - vocals, bass
Łukasz Ziółkowski - drums
