Trauma
Invisible Reality + Promo 1991
Deformeathing Production
Trauma is a very vital band of Polish scene and there is a lot of history to cover for them. Whatever I would say or not regarding their almost 30 years of activity, their status as one of the best Polish death metal bands is very well deserved, without doubt. The band has started under the name of Thanatos in 80`s but after long while they have changed it and from 92 they are well known as Trauma. Invisible Reality is their third demo if counting two previous ones(Deo Optimo Maximo and Out Of Sanity) for Thanatos. Both bands are mutually connected by the leader of the band Jaroslaw(Mister)Misterkiewicz. He is a stunning musician and I do not think any of those bands would ever exist without his involvement in respect for other musicians he runs the band with now and then.
There are always kind of retrospective releases going on the scene and bands with such long history like Trauma has their time to re-fresh it for new generations as well. This year, Invisible Of Reality has finally its grand opening on CD format and cassette, too. This demo was released on CD before but never exclusively as Invisible Reality in a title. Old tape version is long time gone and it`s seems so accurate this stuff is easy to purchase again, for the fans of the band.
I have to write that I have a great credit for Trauma as they are first Polish band which got me involved in underground scene when I bought their both demos as they were Thanatos. It was just around when Metallica was releasing their black album. I was on my vacations back then surrounded by waterfalls and its breeze. I would say it was a moment for me when all things related to heavy music turned me into metal for good and continues to this day. These memories have sentimental value and Trauma is very important band for me ever since.
Invisible Reality is a first straight death metal release of Trauma. Earlier demos was very thrash oriented (Deo Optimo Maximo) with Slayer`ish riffs and garage sound. Out Of Sanity has more death metal influences but still very raw production.Considering time when it was recorded, around 1990, it`s just their best they gave to this demo. Right after, Trauma has started to earn great interest from metal maniacs after Invisible Reality was out. Songs and sound of the band was cold-blooded, hideous and dark at the time. It was very angry but rationally disciplined music. It also was natural evolvement of their songs over the years that let them accomplished certain position from very crowded scene of that era that chased extremity of death metal to maximum. Amazing composing and technical abilities of Jarek as a guitarist have started to grow up for the band`s later releases. This demo was necessary to begin their significant Trauma style as they are known for today.
I am finally glad to have this demo with best possible quality and great artwork. There are crazy pictures of the band which cover that period of time, Also, flyers and long written description from Mister about origin of this release, feature pages of booklet. There is also additional audio material from the band. Trauma recorded pre-production songs for Invincible Reality and they decided to put this on the disc as a bonus which sounds different from original version of the final material.
Of course, everything what has happened to the band after 1992 is just one amazing story about music and excitement which is always present when I play their every demo or album. This release reissued by Deformeathing Production does not show Trauma as they are now but if you like their albums, you should check the beginning of the band which is Invisible Reality.
