The Old Man Coyote
Prologue
Independent
This band feels like a side project that you do in you free time. Band members are active in different bands, but the only one I know from that list is Moanaa (their new album was just reviewed in this magazine). I like the name The Old Man Coyote, which feels like sunbathing on a prairie, inhaling sand dust and singing about strange themes while you are not quite sober. If you expect metal, stoner or other type of heavy music from them, you will be very disappointed, but do not be... Prologue could be a good alternative to the music you listen to everyday. The Old Man Coyote plays acoustic rock, perhaps not that hot and splendid but colder and darker with nice guitar rhythms and deep, melodic vocals. When I was listening to their singer, popped up in my mind that the guy has some "gothic" tone in his voice, which is valuable feature of Prologue, even if it`s not gothic EP at all. In third track his singing comes more out of the throat, like sometimes after hangover. A solo guitarist plays with country music guitar distortions and echoing effects, which gives their tunes vibe of country rock with very basic drum beats. Better songs in my opinion are Procession Of The Lost Souls and mentioned track called Nasavaylu which take me by easy going rhythms and simplicity. The other songs are pretty decent too, only today I like the other two better. Well, it is debut EP of The Old Man Coyote, if you are ready for some none metal tunes, I think it`s worth to give them time and play their music.
