Stolen Lives
Luciferův Efekt
Defense/Maximed Records
It`s a little strange to review an album that guitar-wise sounds very metal, has an absurdly fast grind core drumming - quite frequent but not always, and screamer vocalist whose style of singing fits onto grind core alley too. The sound of the album, dynamics of songs and technical-instrumental fitness of all band members are of much more than just about basic grind core album. Luciferův Efekt is twisted by grind/hard core elements which I just mentioned but songs has nicely disturbing thrash/death metal guitar base which I think make their music sound better, violent. Now, as songs do not follow common music direction, some tracks appear to me as those from category:"what kind of music Stolen Lives actually wanted to have on an album?". It`s too much of music roller-coaster to hear sometimes. The band is able to play some sharp and melodic thrash/death metal songs that moment later just turn into stones falling on your head, brutally. It`s not even about drummer who is a very well skilled guy behind his drums for whom hard core is not enough to reach for his musical goals, they just all together mix music influences as if every one of them wanted music to be their way to play it. It is a Luciferův Efekt as in the title of this album? I do not know, it sounds too funny to think so. Eventually, they find a common ground to write the songs.
The band distracts me way too often from better moments that I have already started to like, which are mainly guitar voyages. Luciferův Efekt is the album that “says” too much musically within only 25 minutes, instead of doing one thing right. It does mean it`s bad album, it`s not, and I mean it. Stolen Lives plays tracks with periods where music sounds original (6) and complex which I like better. So, it`s not a typical grind/hard core - PUNK sounding album, in case if it would interests you more.
My best tracks:1,3,6,10,12.
Similar bands: Antigama, Nausea.
