Sandbreaker
Worm Master

Sandbreaker has already marked their presence on a metal scene with 2019 EP Sandbreaker ... Now it's time for a debut album Worm Master, which, like the previous release, is inspired by the sci-fi world and the novel Dune by Frank Herbert. The band created the lyrical content for the album around desert creatures called sand-worms and other, relative themes.
Sandbreaker doesn't change much in their music on the new album, which is fine for me as they kept this doomy, death metal style of music that I already know from them. The pace of the songs is like seeing a desert caravan, meaning the songs are played slowly, the guitars sound is very heavy, down tuned, a grave vocal intonations are classic growls, but also atmospheric guitar harmonies draw me into this amazing world of gods, creatures and survival, of which the songs seem to form the concept.
A typical, slow (up) doom/death songs are: Upside Down World, Covered by Sand, Tomb of the Burning Sands but actually the entire album is like that. Band plays slowly, but surprisingly, songs are not that long...
Worm Master track also sounds pretty heavy (even without fuzzy guitar sound), however, the song feature distortions too, where the atmosphere becomes more claustrophobic and dense as music goes on. Lyrics, sort of proclaim sand-worms as gods from what I sensed here.
Navigator Lost is up tempo, a crusher song that has some modest and contrast-making guitar leads for music which I think this band voids, but it`s what they should have more and longer present in music.
Aqua Karma is more dynamic track, more in style of doom/stoner with melodic moments. Remembering a fact that heaviness in this album is always therein, which is also so natural to what this band does, they sometimes lean toward doom metal sub-genre,which is a funeral doom in track called Golden Path (Metamorphosis), at least in the first part of the track. The song goes with some weird, hissing noises in the background and there is best guitar solo in this album in my opinion.
Flames of Doom have screaming and growling vocals, more space for expanded bass lines, a floating guitar groove and ambience moments.
Sandbreaker did not try anything “this”or “that” new in their music, it`s classic sounding doom/death metal album which sound like an old Godfather of this musical style which I think is still good!
