It`s a 15+ minutes Ep with doom metal songs. Obviously, they play slow but it`s not the slowest band on Earth, that`s for sure.
Season Of The Plow as a doom metal track with sludge sound works very well for me, even better with that little, nice crust to sound of guitars that they set in studio. This is a slightly melodic song, has repeatable guitar rhythms and heavy riffs. It's easy to remember the band's music because they play it in a simple way. Plus for a guitar solo - the rarest thing of the EP which they actually did only once, right in this track.
Warmsign is slowly dropping off the melodies in the beginning of the track. In result, it`s more classic doom/death song with deep growling vocals and crushing guitar riffs.
Next song is a bit more dynamic, but quickly turns towards funeral doom and its very slow pace. Band comes back to play a bit faster again, just with more groove to guitar tune.
The sound of this EP is well done. Eternal Heat has more accents on bass, drums always sound distinct, not only in this track, throughout the whole EP. They change music ideas more often during the song. I like that eerie, atmospheric effect that ends this EP. Sandbreaker plays their music like they were born in the sands of the desert - their songs have that natural, slow-motion music pace.
I have been lured by super cool front cover to write a review of this release. Artwork made by Bart Kurzak. My best songs are Eternal Heat and Season Of The Plow. This band has potential. Also, if you like Frank Herbert`s Dune, check Sandbreaker out.
