Rex Shachath
Revocation Of The Blood Elect
Great Dane Records
After have reviewed few releases from Great Dane Records, a death metal profile of the label become apparent for me and this Northern Irish band is another proof of my words.
This is a 5 songs EP and the title of the records is somehow intrigue, like some betrayal in royal family maybe... Having no lyrics with me I can`t tell much about it so focusing more on music seems more appropriate.
Rex Shachath has pretty European sound and approach to their death metal I would say. Bands like Sinister, Loudblast could be any clue if you will. They base their music on fluent shreds, heavy riffs and stunning drums both fast and complex, same as guitars. Music is controlled, disciplined than chaotic but I hardly find here any melodies which brings me to classic death metal attitiude from 90`s that often rejected such things like melodies or sweet sounding songs if you know what I mean. However the album is produced recently and sounds modern, so you get basically old school death metal in a new package. Vocals are 100% death metal and it`s just good to hear that not many things have changed in a way the singing is expressed. American death metal does not seems to effect Rex Shachath at all. Influence of Cannibal Corpse and relative bands are marginal and as I stick to what I wrote before. The Ep has definitely more European metal feel to it which is always a righteous path to follow and knowing there are so many prominent and classic albums out there already, you could be infleunced by best of it, which they do.
I do not think this release is making any difference on the huge and crowded scene but this is tough, blood and bones death metal for diehard fans which refers to me as well.
