Red Dead
Forest Of Chaos
Great Dane Records
The latest album from Red Dead is a better old school death metal than they did in the past. Band is having songs with chopped off guitar rhythms that can drive you to that head banging ritual fever that some of you may have experienced already. Good example of such songs are Forest Of Flesh and Butchers`s Prey...
The album sounds energetic and has periodically faster tempos of music, also minor melodies in very few tracks but... Primarily, it`s very heavy sounding record when comes to guitars work. There are also classic death metal guitar shreds and groove in songs that feel like well coordinated music pieces with each other. Of course, Red Dead are still a decent death metal band, they still have some chaotic moments in songs but they give more to their music than typical 90`s bands. Album Forest Of Chaos is thriving in brutality and has some good dynamics and instrumental harmonies but is much more creative than it is merciless which could be intriguing for less intricate metal minds. There is a good feeling of music by a drummer, who hits and rolls on the drums with good timing so I can remember his play as something that matters for me, and for this record. Growling vocals are done as expected from death metal genre; basically, no surprises here but most of things you would want to hear is part of the music.
I think this album has much more good moments than bad ones, and those better ones do not always sound obvious. And most of all there are bunch of brutal riffs ( more or less ordinary) going on in their sons which keep me attached to music of this French band.
