Psychobolia
Chiaroscuro
Great Dane Records
I haven`t done any pre-hearing CD or research about the band and when I finished this ritual of listening the album in full I never would know that there was a girl behind the microphone. She really has all abilities needed to sing in death metal band on respectful level and I like her vocal tracks she put here. Either she growls or screams like a demon. Perhaps with this album, she has earned vocal equality that can be fairy comparable to male vocalists but I leave criticism to you own judgment.
Psychobolia is a French/Paris death metal band which in the name of brutality, do bloodshed to your ears. There is a lot of fast death metal here with punishing drums beats and technicality on guitars. They hold clinical impression of this record, without feelings and no remorse to any melodies that exists in music. They mix death and technical death metal together with totally pounding attitude preferable by all musicians. Chiaroscuro has wildest drumming I`ve heard recently in death metal album and same goes to all guitar/bass parts which cruelty almost reaches extremity to its limits. They being so brutal band do not mean they lost consistency of music and clarity. It is in opposition actually. The harder they are on themselves, the better music carnage and riffs they deliver. There is a lot of shredding of course but it is all get better when they periodically harmonize music like they do in “Altar” for example. Chaos that sometimes comes with this type of music is under control of the band. I think they left their brains making this album because it is intelligent piece of brutal death metal.
Psychobolia is:
Ginger (vocals)
Buru (guitars)
Gogo (drums)
Michael (bass)
Track list:
1. Feast of Pills
2. Oxygen

4. Full Bloom
