Overlord
Overland ...Is Everywhere
Defense Records
Mythrone Promotion
This is very special release of Overlord`s 2 demos (...Is Everywhere - 94, Overland - 95), both tapes, never released on CD format before. It was the band that featured in almost every Polish maga(zine) and they really worked their asses off to reach out to people involved in death metal scene, literally everywhere possible. I remember myself reading, tons of interviews and music reviews about them and it`s one of many reasons why Overlord is so much surrounded and followed by spirit of underground, even these days. This is well deserved compilation CD by them. They earned it for their hard work in the 90`s scene, when they had their glorious days as a band. They called their music Galician death metal for probably, territorial reasons and the Overlord was, of course, a famous military operation during Second World War.
Both cassettes were originally designed with characteristic band logo and black/white sleeves which is successively repeated on this CD version with extras by Defense Records and Mythrone Promotion.
Overland is their better release and have wiser death metal compositions and sound than ...Is Everywhere demo. The songs were not recorded in professional studio but still, the production is very specific and quite good due to circumstances they recorded them. It`s kind of record where the sound is bad that is so good. I am sure that underground maniacs know I am talking about here.
They have very good riffs on both demos and music is a crossover of Death and some Swedish death metal bands but with more melodies and nice guitar solos on top. Vocals sound very solid and I can hear these songs were hard work for them because it still`s good to play them after all those years and enjoy what they have done with it. All songs from Overlord kick ass, I recommend it without doubt to all of you ... Is Everywhere is also a must to hear because there is a music you can likely find friendly to your death metal soul.
It`s great and one of the best retrospective releases of 2018 so far, in Poland. Hope the labels, distributors and promoters sell it all because Overlord (RIP) was very good band, check it out!
