Over A Mountain Peak
Independent CD
I am glad to have local band features here again and opportunity to support bands like Open Access among many others, as you may know, Poland/Krakow breeds huge amount of bands in every genre.
This time a debut EP of heavy folk band with mixed line up and they are:
Lukasz –drums
Marta Muszynka - Vocal
Jakub Bugajski - Bass Guitar
Piotr Ludwin - Rhythm Guitar
Tomasz Kotliński - Lead Guitar
Ola Jagieła - Violin
A CD opens with Vengeance song, metal based riffs with beautiful violin parts, melodies everywhere and that`s good start off of the EP. Next song is Kozak in Polish lyrics and vocals and hits with classic folk roots, cool solos and metal energy of guitarists consistently boosting those songs to be as heavy and vigorous as possible. I guess more audience would give a go to this song for its vitality and I know this one sells the band live as I have seen it. Into The storm is not that radio adopted like other songs already mentioned but for somebody this could be a black horse of the EP, you just never know... And time for S/T track which is most representative for what is called folk metal and this is another one that streams out what`s best of it; Once again great, generic lines of violin, speed metal, acoustic appearances. This is very essential Polish song. The band is not quite there yet with sound and maturity of arrangements but I like 3 songs out of 4 so I guess it`s good for me and I do not need to persuade myself that I get more joy from the band in the future.
