O.D.R.A./Parh
Split Album

Album of two Polish sludge metal bands; O.D.R.A. (Wrocław) and Parh ( Płock).
From the very beginning, O.D.R.A tries to find a rhythm and flow for their songs... They quickly and successively make it happen in tracks 1 and 3 which both have a nice vibe of light melodies. These songs are surely my best ones of the album.
In song number 2 they just seek out for riffs that could work for the best musical result of the song. Nice try, not bad song, but it's my least favourite one.
Track four is their slowest offering. Nice pulsing sounds of bass and crushing guitar riffs are as heavy as a big hammer hitting against an anvil. So, here are 3 out of 4 tracks of this band that sound really good.
O.D.R.A`s singer is a hell of a screamer but seriously, it`s hard to understand his words and lyrics which is a bad feature of his vocals.
I like music of this band, they try to play melodic, care about how they want to sound. Their sludge songs are well composed music pieces, more and less obscure. O.D.R.A. follows basic rule that work for them - the simpler construction of songs the better music outcome.
Parh on the other hand sounds more obscure and tough. Their vocalist has a manner of death metal singer (remind me of Martin from Asphyx).
Musically, track 8 has death metal and sludge elements, but that is all when comes to death metal influences in this band.
A tenth song is a short hybrid of hard-grind/core-punk that stylistically does not fit to this record.
Unlike other tracks, Bobby L is their most melodic song with cleaner vocals. So, Parh tries different music variations in their songs but except death metal part I am not particularly a fan of experiments which seems to be a track 10.
In all other songs, Parh appears as a more consistent sludge band which is what the band does better in my subjective opinion.
My favourite tracks are aggressive We Are, with clanging bass lines, and Control, in which the vocalist is totally on spotlight.
I lean more toward music of O.D.R.A, but I'm glad that Parh is also part of the album.
