Nightmares
Pamiętaj Synu Mój
Independent
Nightmares come from Kutno/central Poland and Krzysztof Wiankowski (bass, back. vocals) was once connected to other well known band from that area Nightmare (RIP). Because there are totally new people involved in Nightmares nowadays, this band just sound much better on this 5 songs EP than Nightmare ever did. Even if names of both bands are quite similar, those are totally different groups to each other I presume. Thinking that Nightmares is a continuation of Nightmare should not be put in motion because Nightmares is still fairly new band on the scene, with new people in which change almost everything....
Pamiętaj synu mój is a proof of that change. I am really happy that this is thrash metal record because it`s one of my all time favorite genres. The EP has clear, good sound so they can easily explore their melo - aggressive style and song writing in short minutes. It`s very specific record because they sing on it with Polish vocals with couple English and German words which is totally awesome. Pawel Pilch who is a vocalist for the band is a crazy bad ass with his “Lemmy” type of singing and teasing lyrics. I absolutely love a tone of his voice that sounds like he could have blended it with one hundred years old whiskey (laughs).
Instrumental skills of those guys are on very good level so they use it for like Exodus sounding dynamics (Yeah! Here`s Johny has some...) and Metallica( Nowa Rewolucja, Wojna) recent influences as well. It`s not ferocious music, they put melodic side of their music as importance but everything is just way better with this constant, thrashy feeling attached to music which is expressed by superb riffs, solos and smashing guitar shreds. Their Baba Jaga track - which is a hard core punk song is more humorous one and it`s just different from other songs but it can`t be a future music direction of Nighmares!
I would like recommend this record for not only Polish fans out there. I know that a lot of foreign people like to play records with Polish lyrics, they are just scared to admit it. It`s refreshing, good and energetic thrash metal record, also for Motorhead enthusiasts.
Line up:
Pilch Paweł-VOC
Wiankowski Krzysztof-BASS
Janiszewski Dominik-GUITAR
Najberg Wojciech-GUITAR
Figurski Witold-DRUMS
Tracklist:
1. Nowa rewolucja
2. Here's Johny
3. Podaj wrogom dłoń
4. Wojna
5. Baba Jaga
