Nefesh
Contaminations
Revalve Records digipackCD
Nefesh is Italian band and their journey started off in 2005. One year later their S/T debut was out and that`s been another 6 years, when Shades and Lights, second album has been released in 2011. The band and their new CD Contaminations are maintaining their popularity in Europe, USA and recently special edition of the album is available in Japan.
Nefesh blends different musical styles and one important characteristic I like in this band is how smoothly their music incorporates different influences and how natural sounding and important metal album they can write. They are capable to mix heavy power thrash death metal within just one song and give it the time, to develop an excellence of the song. There are many bands out there and they mess up with genres and screw their music because it is not that easy for every band to achieve. Nefesh deals with it well and gains something amazing out of those music genres. The band is smart with their compositions and uses prog elements into the album making it longing and desirable for decent listener. Keyboard parts are clever without making their style too bombastic and those lines are so much European. I feel familiar to the way it sounds and reacts to my inherited musical roots which I obtain through listening albums for example.
For most time Nefesh is melodic, emotional with very good vocals but sometimes pretentious lyrics. There are culling, atmospheric and ballad related songs with dose of melancholic touch. The album is all over the map and they switch very well between genres. One band that comes to mind is Sadist but still slightly different from what Nefesh does. However, prog power metal is dominating factor driving Contaminations and that basically suits me. Try them, they give you love...
Nefesh are:
Luca Lampis - chitarre/guitars
Stefano Carloni - tastiere/keyboards
Diego Brocani - basso elettrico/electric bass
Paolo Tittarelli - voce/vocalist
Michele Baldi - batteria/drum
