Homo Maleficus

I am invaded by one-man projects!!! But I am not tired of them. If you believe in theory that every man on Earth is a different from each other then you never going to hear the same music ever again. Nagaarum hails from Hungary and this album has wide spectrum of influences. It`s impossible to talk about just one genre of music he dragged his album with.
The record consist 7 songs with Hungarian vocals but CD version has translated text if you want to jump into lyrics. All graphics, pictures and design of the album are all done by Nagaarum to welcome you to the realm of his album.
First minutes of music are pretty much post metal mixed with black metal and some psychedelic rock. Vocals on the album are pretty enjoyable. If you remember legendary band Tormentor from Hungary then you possibly can find some comparisons to vocals of Atilla from that band. Some of songs are more dynamic and has death metal edge to it but there is always a mist of black metal that surround his songs. Even if I can`t tell that sound of Homo Maleficus is distinct and harsh as in typical black metal album, atmosphere of music often is. There is some ambient music going on, tormented and haunted vocals as in fourth song which sounds almost like black thrash metal song if you listen with attention. There is some change of mood as it is in fifth song where guitars are ugly primitive and vocals more barbaric. The song is dismal and black metal but with several weird, ambient, atmospherics towards the end. I still want to convince you to vocals the guy put in his songs with underground charisma and vigor if it makes sense. Except, he sings it black metal way, there are few clean vocals that reminds old Norwegian black metal albums, like A Blaze In The Northern Sky(I mean that type of clean singing that sounds like a howl of the Wolf-man in frozen forest). I think last song is a little downfall but overall it is good record.
Homo Maleficus is home-made music but sounds OK and I have no reason to complain about that. The album is really diverse, tries to find a bridge between old metal and modern influences. It`s not perfect by any meaning, lacks consistency to where he actually wants to go with music, more directly. But album just has so many good moments to ignore it.
