Mindwarp
A Cold Black Day
Great Dane Records

Picture
I have a privilege to review a new album of Mindwarp, the band  that is a longer while on the scene now with a few albums under the belt. They come from Switzerland but in their 4 piece squad is a Polish guy who plays a bass so I think it`s a great news, too.

Line up for this album is: Fred Buschenrieder (Vocals), Pascal Lanquetin (Guitar), Romuald Hermanowski (Bass), Bebert (Drums).

A Cold Black Day has 9 songs of death metal(vocal and most rhythm guitars) but incredible melodic lines of solo guitarists are making a great impact to the record. Pascal plays awesome solos and catchy motives and give those songs razor sharpness and dynamics. It`s kind like early era of Scandinavian death metal that in oppose to Sunlight studio productions have generated bands like Dark Tranquillity, In Flames and such.
Mindwarp has their music in a spirit of traditional death metal and it`s sort of sound that blends 90`s and later influences with heavy metal guitar additions in general. The album is also energetic and can go aggressive every time it needs to.  But I have no doubt that driving force of the album is a melody that grab my attention above all.

I have known Switzerland from black, post metal, sludge genres so far. Mindwarp is a rare death metal band I have barely heard about from there. Wrap this review up then.

A Cold Black Day is very decent full length and rather not a surprise which is as good as it`s melodic and catchy.
