Mastema
Awake In The Grave
Metal Rising Records CD
I constantly keep my interest in thrash metal wherever passionate, good records come from and those Texas guys new EP strengths me and honestly I never have enough of it.
Pretty disappointed that only 4 songs streams out of the CD. As for me, the band is closer to release full length with attributes they have already but anyway. David Sanchez from Havok band is a producer of those tracks and let`s face it. Mixing and mastering sounds just good and does not need more than that and my feedback is none other but positive.
Damn good to have this band with me along with exceptional attacking style of thrash and arsenal of attributes that comes with it. Despite the fact that EP has a title that haunted me for years as life phobia, other features like great work between both guitarists in a song From the Depths and terrifying Drew Habryl vocals handle their guns and pointing the record in right direction. A Blatant Disregard song is brutalized a bit by blast beats and here is an answer why you could call Mastema a thrash death metal band as well. Awake In The Grave is a back to roots of the genre and Mastema just go with it. This band is much better lifting and developing thrash riffs to the band`s criterion. All elements fit better this way I must say. Closing Defector is slower and having awesome melodic vocals(...regain control...) and those are and would be much more appreciated in the future if the band decides to write more of those on next record. And one more thing regards to guitar solos that I really enjoy wherever they feature on the record. I am absolutely amazed by job done on those songs.
