Maniac Abductor
Casualties Of Causality
Inverse Records
A debut album of Finnish metalheads brings 9 songs of an explosive thrash metal. The sound quality is decent, so it's no problem to words-rate this album. I will not say that I wouldn’t associate the music of these Finns with other similar bands that are alike Manic Abductor. I will recall a few names from the world of thrash, which I think reflect the spirit of Casualties Of Causality.
Maniac Abductor plays fast and aggressive like Lost Society. A song Destroyer Of Worlds is kind of reminiscent of Exodu`s War Is My Sheppard due to leading riffs. The album also sounds quite heavy in places, a bit like Overkill, with strongly audible sounding bass, performed by Janne Parviainen. The music has a pinch of melody, but not in extraordinary amount because Maniac Abductor put more emphasis on aggression of the songs. A singer screams powerfully (plus vocal shouts) and his lines sound solid, even if it misses some memorable hooks and melodies.
Another characteristic feature of the album are few speed metal riffs and a lot of guitar shredding that can be heard on the album, in song Hatebound for example. However, I am convinced that Casualties Of Causality is definitely a thrash metal album in its nature that just shortly leaning towards crossover thrash and speed metal. I think the song Thrash Assault is played by the band a bit differently than other songs. This track sounds old school, Maniac Abductor plays it with 80`s speed metal spirit, a bit like Canadian Exciter. However, this is not necessarily my favorite track of the album. Very good song is mid-tempo track Evil Brother Hood that has some cool sounding rhythms and pretty sounding speed thrash metal riffs. There are also several vigorously played songs on the album like: Fooled Again (angry vocals with attitude) and fast-slower-fast-slower paced songs like Watery Tomb and No Hope For You.
The album ends with a cover of Sepultura - Troops Of Doom from their black / thrash metal album Bestial Devastation. What Maniac Abductor did well in this song are sound and arrangements on drums. Of course, overall it`s just good, classic song.
