Mácula - Extinction Remains
Split
Defense/Mythrone Promotion
Mácula is Brazilian band on this compilation that is Brazilian to the bone because most information about them on the internet is in Portuguese, so...Let`s get to the point...
Cultivando Certezas Rúpteis starts off similarly to a song of The Rack album from mighty Asphyx. Seems that some riffs have been basically ripped off from that Dutch band. So it`s slow, it`s atmospheric, and very death metal for a minute or two. After that doomy beginning, it turns out that Mácula is a generic and aggressive hard core/sludge band with a disposition for playing fast. Travessia is their atmo-psychodelic song but only instrumental one. Their last track (3), which band also plays fast, feature sore vocals that you can hear from their singer.
I like the whole music build-up that Mácula did in their first song which is their best track here, in my opinion.
Extinction Remains has improved production quality of their songs in comparison to their other releases. Drum beats are now much more distinct and vivid. Really like the production of it.The vocals sound clearer, though still brutal and crunchy. The guitar arrangements are bit more advanced (saying “technical” seems just wrong), so the music has more to offer on the ground of creativity. The songs are composed more mature, the band's style does not change, which is a heavy, death/doom`ish metal that stinks like a corpse never buried-enough to describe old school roots in their music. The songs and lyrics are their message, a warning to tell about the pollution and collapse of the ecosystem in which we all live on, and we are all about to die if we do not change a way we live in nature. It`s quicker process of getting to their music ideas because among very slow moments in their music, they also threw in some dynamic riffs. Extinction Remains plays here some instrumental songs and some with vocals and they are moving on with their music and how they have been producing it in studio is better too!
