Lost In Desolation
Mourning II
Talheim Records
Lost In Desolation (Australia) are: Josh Gee on vocals, Josh Young all music, guest vocals in tracks 2,3,5 by Felix Lane. Album was recorded in various places and released in 2017 by Talheim Records, same as the first album of the band entitled Mourning I (2014).
Most of those songs are over 10 minutes long, so get yourself ready and dive into music which is full of atmospheric soundscapes, delivered through synth/keyboards effects that can make your mind drift in the skies to admire the beauty of nature, such as mountains and forests. Certainly, all keyboards in music of this band sound mysteriously but atmosphere of songs is lightly but sublimely disturbed by ominosity of ambience. Arrangements on keyboards dwell into naturalism and spirituality of wilderness. This atmospheric flow, musical images they project throughout the music are very strong in a sense of persuasion-how what you hear and experience make any meaning to you...
I gave some insight on band`s atmospherics because I like it in songs in the first place, but actually they are black metal band with waves of raw and distorted guitar sound and some calmer guitar sequences as well.
Extreme vocals here sound just chaotic, distracting me from the atmosphere of the album. All drums/percussions were programmed to somehow fit into music ideas of the band which it did, but it also took organic substance off the music instead of bringing it in. This, of course require a real drummer to make this band sounds core-natural by human-factor which in this record they replaced by computer of less possibilities than human actions could do.
