Loss Of Infection
Dark Dimension
Sliptrick Records
Dark Dimension is an EP released in October 2020 by Sliptrick Records and music is delivered by South Korean band Loss Of Infection.
6 songs here are death metal propositions that go toward crossroad of few death metal sub-genres. Heavy guitar breakdowns at slow and mid-tempos certainly sound like death/core mixed with slam death metal which is technically very well performed by all musicians. I like surgical and precise drumming of this record, just like in song In the Midst of Flame. There are running fast drum beats as when the band plays faster and delivers some drilling guitar work that at those points, sound more like a standard death metal riffs as well. Guttural vocals and noisy screams are vital addition to the brutal sound of the band. In a few places, you can hear ominous and dread synths intros or dark, cinematic orchestrations which cause that fear and terror are throwing slowly their veils of anxiety into your mind. Low guitar tuning along with complex-some musical structures and weirdly distorted bass of this short but very representative for the band record, eventually crush their way to death metal bliss. I think there is a kind of formula to song writing by this Asian band which is about playing slowly and intensively with few melodic leads, other time they are just go mercilessly fast with music and play even more brutal riffs. Good production of this EP and selective sound of songs make music itself a good death metal material to listen to.
