Lauxnos
Crushed By Waves
Symbol Of Domination Prod/The Ritual Productions
Lauxnos mixes several metal genres on this album. What connects these genres are atmospheric moments, wrapped around some groove and foremost – grim-shining guitar melodies which are the core, the backbone of band`s music that drive their songs. They also lean toward harsher black metal where they sound a bit more aggressive, just not for that very long because Lauxnos balances the mood of Crushed By Waves between black metal aesthetic and other genres... There is time for post black metal with longing and desolate guitar riffs, and time for calmer art doom fragments or just melodic death metal that has its points in building the climax of the album. The band has extreme metal vocalist who sporadically sings with clean vocals, quite well, and he is not annoying like many other singers who try to face it, even though they should not have. Crushed By Waves is clearly the album where they like to change music ideas, experimenting with different vocal tones so there`s always something fresh that is expected to come into the band`s music, for example in form of various drumming arrangements. A sound of the album is sharpened to the level where all instruments sound distinctive.
Here are my best tracks from this Russian band that they more relate to post black metal which I prefer, eventually melodic death/doom metal which is also good to hear in their songs: The Voice Of Dead Ocean, Crushed By Waves, Lord Of The Wild Waters.
