King Legba And The Loas
Back From The Dead
Czar Of Crickets
Surprise, surprise... It`s the album that has been produced in Sweden by Tomas Skogsberg but it`s not death metal record. King Legba And The Loas is a Swiss band and it means they are not from Scandinavia which is just icing their cake. The album is down tuned, little bass sounding, but all instruments have a proper selectivity which is another good thing about production of this record. They play as a trio and sound like a band without second guitarist but I ensure you that this line-up is very creative the way they are now. The music is not multi layered at all but has authentic rock`n`roll spirit. Their garage driven sound and spontaneity fits their boogie some - stoner music direction.
The album is full of southern metal arrangements; songs are sometimes catchy, other times more melodic but they play it very dynamic (except the Home-their heaviest track on the album) which bring me a long minutes of joy. They have much of cool guitar riffs and some guitar solos but if I was sarcastic I`d say that some of it ain`t even that bad. The vocalists sign like they live to it and the reception I have on their music seems to be good when I am playing those songs for myself. Drums and bass are very actively played - all over the place but passion and devotion they carry through the music is there for you to swallow it like a good whisky.
This is averagely very strong album but I personally have some tracks that shine more than others and these are: Back From The Dead, Moonchild, A Little Pity.
Tracklist:
1. Back From The Dead
2. Ghost Train
3. Voodoo Witch
4. Moonchild
5. Resist The Gods
6. A Little Pity
7. No Surprise
8. Home
