Kashgar
Kashgar
Symbol Of Domination
Murdher Records
This is first Kyrgyzstani album I have opportunity to hear in my 30 years journey with metal. I find it a little uncomfortable to review this album because it sounds very inconsistent, like it was hard for them to pick one music direction. I do not know if they have one stable line up because on this album they invited few other musicians and they seem to have some impact on music they recorded. Every member is somehow involved in recording of the tracks on Kashgar and music may sounds odd to some of you as it`s a creation of 6 musicians, not only 3.
Basically, this is kind of occult black metal (early Greek and Italian metal scene), maybe with some pagan folk and archaic death metal elements. Music is once simplistic, the other time avant-garde like old albums of Forgotten Silence. They have tendencies to sound like bands from 90`s which involves some old school thrash riffs or typical black or heavy metal influences. Overall, music is darker of course which remind me Russian Satarial in spirit of music. Vocals are bit dull but in plus is a fact that I actually can hear some words of the vocalist which is always better. I like the tracks of bass player who uses his instrument actively with good arrangements. Guitars sound strange sometimes but those faster and more advanced instrumentally moments that pop up sometimes in songs are most interesting actually. The album has too many minutes without passion and vigor and those are slower paced fragments, barely memorable and possibly too long.
I would say that the album has its good points and atmosphere because it sounds awkward perhaps, which could be considered original. Some of the music however, lacks better dynamics and uncompromising ideas and that possibly makes Kashar the band that does not sound much like strongly consolidated band yet.
Line up:
Blauth - vocals, drums
Ars - guitars
Warg – bass
Guest musicians:
Mike Cole – guitars
Asad Asadov- guitars
Igor Golikov-drums
Tracklist:
1 Half A Devil
2 Tyan-Shan / Batyr
3 Scent Of Your Blood
4 Erlik
5 Albarsty
6 Come Down
