Infirmum
Walls Of Sorrow
Inverse Records
When listening to debut album of this Finnish metal project, I realize that Infirmum is in a league of their own. It`s an album with a massive death/doom metal sound which has the most important music ingredients – a beautifully written melodic songs which sound amazingly refreshing and heavy and somehow, very familiar to other metal achievements from a past.
I can tell you one thing, those doom metal songs of Infirmum that have a "scent" of sorrow and sadness will never make you feel inappropriate or bad because they sound like enchanted by fairies – songs that beat the rhythm in the warrior's dead heart should never fail , and Infirmum does not fail. You can give music a try by listening to tracks like Shadows Of The Past, Silence and Fearless.
Songs like To Darkness, Wake Me have a beautiful melodies and harmonies with an amazing depth of the guitar sound, something like Amon Amaranth meets Dan Swano and his projects.
Infirmum also brings that victorious sound of Viking Metal to their music, so there is a pagan element in their songs that should let you feel like a warrior wearing a Viking helmet with horns on top of it, at least for a while... Track Sail Away is such song which is obvious nod to Bathory from epic times of Hammerheart and Twilight Of The Gods. Obvious, because of the way the song is played feels almost like it`s a tribute to Quorthon.
Okey, I used many comparisons to other bands when I was describing album Walls Of Sorrow but I`d like to ensure you that I am positively inspired after hearing all 10 original songs performed by Infirmum .
