Civitas Interitus
Now, it`s something for fans of melodic heavy metal and folk.
2017 is a year when Swiss Infinitas debuts their first full length. On the album they tell the story about unreal city Lunatris which has been attacked by demons and there is a survivor who tries to escape from danger...There also is a bit of lyrical insight about demons and I am pretty sure, every one of you know, at least one name of those evil spirits. Those names are also titles to most of their songs but Infinitas is not black metal band or anything like that.
You can follow their story from start to the end with maps that band designed in a booklet for this occasion. Graphically, Civitas Interitus has a notion of Lord Of The Rings and it`s very OK for me to feel that art relevance to both Infinitas and the movie.
The music of the band is dynamic with many instrumental twists. They keep structures of the songs heavy and power metal on guitars with many speed moments and a lot of melodic rhythms. Even bass parts pulse its life in music and flies among music notes very actively. Sound and the songs are just much richer and more accomplished this way. Female, clean vocals are very alive, warm and determined through the story but also feisty when comes to sing more aggressive to particulate emotions. Violin parts are gesture to the whole folk genre and to my convenience, they just needed it so much in this album to complete the whole concept and music ideas.
Civitas Interitus is more diverse and open up for different music influences and techniques than many other metal folk albums. I quickly came to conclusion that Infinitas is much more challenging band for me because I found this impossible to catch all details in music when I played the album for the first time. This release is a must go for every fan of the genre and you can expect a little more from them when comes to super cool instrumental arrangements.
