Infector
Let The Infection Begin
Defense
The debut album of Cuban trio Infector is like an era of thrash from the 80s and 90s that has never ended. The album`s goal is to hit with an ultra aggressive thrash metal songs that have very few melodies, but fuck, it works... Let The Infection Begin is an outbreak of angry riffs, insane guitar solos and a chase for speed, no matter what. Franh J. Carmenate vocals sounds on the album like a young Mille Petroza from Kreator and all band members also do many vocal shouts/choruses which is pretty cool thing in thrash metal genre.
Sound selectiveness of every instrument is good and album production is not much polished which I think is okey in regards to their spontaneous and incredibly crazy style of playing songs. Music essentially is a bit chaotic but in best meaning of the word. There are many moments in the album where songs sound more refined - have nice guitar twists, and where you can almost feel that they could step forward and play songs with more maturity... I just don't think they want this to happen. As for the album that glorifies 80/90`s thrash, their music works perfectly for comprehension of this idea.
Some of band influences are Kreator, MX, Sadus, Dark Angel but similarities are just not so obvious... Let The Infection Begin is the album so intense, severe, fast and has extremely punishing guitar work that is a very significant for Infector only. At the same time, their songs have a gen for entertainment and enjoyment which result from the fact that the band simply plays the music they like. I find it really hard to pick up best tracks from this album because songs lack melodies but I like the band`s choice to gather all their strength into angriest music they could think of! However, Cherobyl might be that memorable song for me because I, and millions other people remember experiencing a mental affliction from Charnobyl`s nuclear disaster in real time situation, back in time when it happened. It`s too good album to just say that I like only this or that song, so I just let the music beat the crap out of me while I am listening to it.
I am more like Bay Area thrasher in my heart but Infector kicks ass anyway. If you like super aggressive and brutal thrash, you better check Infector out.
