Infected Mind
Lost Existence
Thrashing Madness
There are very few labels in Poland that occasionally release old demos from Polish underground but Thrashing Madness is without a doubt the most dedicated and devoted to the movement. Anytime I can, I take a close up and review their releases which are often the treasures of Polish extreme metal from 80/90`s and after. What they do, is a restoration of old and rare demo tapes(or album re-editions) on CD format with better sound and additional materials like extra tracks, new graphics, arts, booklet packed with rare pictures, interviews and information about the band. If you are a fan of Polish (and not only) metal, Thrashing Madness is the best way to deepen your knowledge about super underrated bands and their music. So, go and check out the label, buy the music and spread the word. They deserve it and need you support!
OK. My first random choice from their katalog is Infected Mind from Gliwice/Silesia. The band was formed in 1990 but their music roots reach to 80`s when they were developing their skills in other bands to finally get together as Infected Mind.
I remember having their cassette but since I do not operate on tapes (no cassette player for some time...), it`s been more difficult to refresh that music recently. Memory came back quickly once I played the disc, of course. The CD consist 7 songs of thrash metal recorded in Beat studio which owner, was a bass player (Krzysztof Stasiak) for Kat-one of the most respected band with instant classic albums in their discography. The session Of Lost Existence took 5 days in January 1993. Originally the sound is not too good due to lack of quality studio equipment at the time but no worries. Demo is comprehensible and musically just kick ass. The songs are very energetic, even brutal but still very thrashy with death metal edge to it. They have incredible, punishing intensity of songs all the way. Very much symptom of that time I would say. Performance of songs or if you like; technical side of music is really on very good level. They have lot of ripping shreds and few guitar solos that enrage the music. For most time songs are fast, archaic but you know, there`s nothing to complain about. It`s old style thrash and it has to be like that. If you like early albums of Dragon, Darkness, Sadus, Slayer, Sepultura... It`s all there, waiting for you to punch you in the face with a wave of old school thrash metal.
Vocals are more death/thrash and it was last minute thing they had to do after their vocalist left, just before entering the studio by Infected Mind. It`s been a bit hurry for them then and you can hear they could have done vocals better if they had more time.
Refreshing this demo on CD was really good idea. It`s terrifying when you realize that their music could be forgotten by time, but when it`s not...It`s just awesome to have it and really enjoy how this band plays. I do as hell, ever!
Regarding recent band`s return on the scene it`s very ininial what I am going to write now. That`d be just perfect if they could record those songs once again with totally new, devastating sound. I am sure that`d be something even more outstanding!
Line up for Lost Existence:
Zbigniew Ziobro-guit/voc
Witold Dziedzic-guitar
Miroslaw Kubec-bass
Marek Bezwinski-drums
