Horrorscope
Altered Worlds Practice
Defense Records
Welcome to Silesia/Poland once again. A place on Earth where metal is turned into real gold as many bands over there fuck popularity in music and do their own thing, no matter what is trendy or on top of music charts. Fuck it! Horrorscope is a long time running thrash metal band that have started to build-up reputation not only by releasing some prestigious albums (Delicioushell-2012, Evoking Demons-2006...) but also, there is still a lot of fun when I play their early demos (Worship Game, Wrong Side Of The Road, both out in 1999). Cassettes sound almost as good as their full length albums but Altered Worlds Practice showcase a progress in their music since the beginnings of the band. The most important thing is that they are still here, relentless and ready to kick your thrash metal ass. For that, they have my huge support for making my world a dangerous but better place when I listen to their music since 1999.
I really have no problem if Horrorscope sounds a little similar to giants of thrash metal like Exodus, Testament, Overkill and like some bands from Polish scene - Whorehouse, Prosecutor...
The album has very good production, the songs have the strength and the energy of T-rex (yes, a dinosaur you idiot :) ). It is just well done album that I was having no trouble to pick up among other albums that were probably very boring. The whole band is very good on their instruments. The guitarists embrace the speed when it is most needed, the shreds are essential to trigger aggression and rage the music which they do. Bear in mind that at the same time, they (w)arm-up the music with a lot of rhythms, melodies that could possibly explode in your head under impression of arrangements and technicality of music they prepared here. AWP is the album on desirable level I`d like to hear on daily basis. I usually have my little expectations from thrash metal albums because the most incredible ideas, instrumental voyages and musicianship come from this genre, usually. Horrorscope each way, give you what`s best in thrash and what it is about. They play great guitar solos, have brutal but melodic vocals and just relish you with tons and tons of amazing riffs. Eventually, the complexity of songs will cause you some struggle to fully interact and enjoy the album but; by giving it more time, they shall pay you off with amount of self-satisfaction as a reward for your perseverance. As for me, it`s leading Polish thrash album of current year so far. Bravissimo.
