Hereticae
Ecos do Atlântico
Independent
I`ve had to give some time this album to understand its sublime nature, and when I was assimilating its atmosphere, the music of the band has slowly revealed its potential. Ecos do Atlântico is something that can be called a neo-black metal with post black metal influences but even then, it`s still a very black metal album that takes elements from its traditional style such as sound which is upgraded with band`s own spirituality. Songs are written of harmonic guitar leads, melodic solos, dreamy moments which all lies within harsher sound of the album. I like those songs where Hereticae (Bra) pushes it toward atmosphere and catchy riffs which enriches the sound of songs the way the music has contrasts and beautiful music soundscapes. Surely, the band does not leave those aggressive tracks or moments in songs behind so between all those melodic music arrangements there is a black metal severity which reigns over black metal realm of the album...The band also builds the songs on basis of solemn doom metal riffs and guitar groove which they measure in this album with surprising results which is my reaction to the music of the band from which I basically do not want to have my ears turned off.
Album still has some uncontrolled chaotic moments, vocal flexibility from a singer is not the greatest but on the other hand his distorted vocal depth just makes this album sounds angrier, with a bit of death metal edge to it.
I think it`s super interesting black metal album, very atmospheric and open for variety of music scenarios/possibilities as it`s when you can`t be certain what the next music idea is going to be like from this band, but you can be sure it will be something that will stuck in your head . It may take a short while to get into essence of their songs but when you finally got it right, this album appears to be an ocean of emotions surrounded by black metal sound as we all like it.
My best tracks:2,3,6,9...
