Hellhaim
Let the Dead Not Lose Hope
Ossuary Records
The album begins with a dynamic song called Ax To Grind, featuring fast riffs, melodic solos and melo-raw vocals.
Devilin is also fast song that goes with some fine, heavier riffs. The singer hits the high registers of his voice hard, which sounds pretty cool ... There is also female singing, which is a good variety in their music, even if it`s just a short episode in the album. The song is a strong piece of heavy metal.
A slightly slower song is Virus, based on heavy guitar chords, various guitar distortions ... and a dose of melody. It`s a more classic heavy metal composition than the first two, more in the vein of Judas Priest, Manowar.
Interesting and catchy things happen in the song Zodiac. Melodies, vibrating solos also sound good. The chorus fits me too. Those guys play heavy metal as old dinosaurs, and it`s worth to mention that some musicians started out their musical journey in the early 80`s already.
The fact is that vocalist of Hellhaim sings both melodic and even aggressively / harshly on this album. Hell Is Coming is a song where the vocals are metal hell.
The song La Santa Muerte / The Triumph Of Life starts off very nice, with melodic and catchy riffs ... Apart from calmer, ballad-like moments, the composition is a fire of power riffs.
Not much to say about instrumental track Aluminum & Ash. It`s just an ambient song kind of...
Another fast track with brutal vocals is Livet Ar Strunden, which is perhaps the most sinister song of the album.
The return to the classic guitar rhythms is happening in the song Metro. I really prefer Hellhaim with clean, melodic vocals ,with a squeaky screams like here, and I think those few death metal roars here are missing out on heavy metal grace and ... purpose. Beside that, it`s heavy metal song as written in the book.
Let the Dead Not Lose Hope is a good album that combines the old spirit of heavy metal with a modern sound. There is more better music here than the one I would not like to hear.
