Hegerøth
Perfidia
Independent
Hegeoth comes from Silesia / Poland. They start off the album with a strong shot in the form of blast beats and faster guitar moments, where they alternate music with heavy riffs and freezing guitar shreds. The screeching vocals and the sound of the album indicate Perfidia as the record that sounds like a second wave of black metal. Songs have a strong, underground studio production, overall musicianship in the band is quite good and distinct sound of drums, guitars and vocals has interesting selectiveness. Distorted Visions Of Saints is a fast song, high pitched guitar sound is alike a heavy snow storm. The vocalist sings like a black metal front-man should, but he also changes the pitch of his voice when screaming , so the vocals sound super raspy and diverse. Of course, on the album, you can recognise some influences from other black metal hordes - songs The Last Salvation and Raise Your Voice are fair combination of Dark Funeral, Immortal and Hegeroth`s own ideas. Music here sounds uncompromising and cold, but also there is a guitar craft to it. I like to follow how drummer plays, and guitar riffs just sound so destructive. I also am fond of guitar harmonies in Raise Your Voice, and vocal choruses as well.
The album is ferocious and aggressive, the music is fast and slower. Sacrificed is a very intense song, with audible influences of uncompromising Norwegian black metal scene, which in the 90`s was characterized by merciless, sharp and just noteworthy riffs. Good sign is that Hegeroth is trying to throw some melodies into their black metal music (Last Salvation) - besides groove, it is also brutal song with sloppy guitar solos, which can remind a bit old Bathory. The seventh track is How Sore Can Be The Fall, which confirms that this album is a pure black metal invasion against your hearing senses. Hegeroth doesn't always play fast, they also have atmospheric track entitled An Angel Won't Come, where band laid down some crafty guitar layers, by which the song sounds a bit more epic in a way.
I won't say bad words about this album because I enjoy listening to Perfidia - there are plenty of changing musical ideas in their songs that solidify the album. Perfidia is not surprise at all in black metal community; it's just well arranged black metal release with a certain quality to song structures. I think it`s the album that gets better after every listen.
