Cannibalism For Dummies
Great Dane Records
Heboïdophrenie was formed in France in 2010. Cannibalism For Dummies is their newest sophomore album. There is a 7 years gap between their debut Origin of Madness from 2013 and this one. The band plays with the same line up since they started out the band. What I like about it is that Cannibalism For Dummies has songs where you can sense that there has been a “proper” chemistry between band members while they were writing those songs...
This album is a measurement of few brutal styles such as death core and death metal. It`s where dynamic rhythms meets guitar breakdowns with some chunky riffs. It`s where brutality harmonizes with melodies while to whole spectrum of death metal growls from a singer they also added a few severe slammy vocals and heavier guitars that indicate this music style in the songs too. Still, it`s not strict slamm death metal record, music just has few elements from this sub-genre of death metal that pop up in music from time to time. It`s a dynamic and intense album, you can hear some choruses that in terms of death metal - you may say sound catchy. Leads and rhythms changes but there is no sense of chaos in this album but death metal obliteration that awaits you. So, the huge attribute of the music is that they play their songs which are likely to be remembered for something as songs differ from each other the way that they do not sound the same. Drumming in the record is technically handled very well, album has brutal sounding production, band`s natural mix of death and death core go with creativity and certain quality to music which is what you`d expect from skilled musicians which they are.
It`s brutal album, not the most extreme record out there but in this case I think it`s just better, because band`s song writing is more memorable. Surely these are 11 solid songs that will smash your head down if you get a chance to hear it.
