Grievers
The Eternal Pleasure Of Revenge
Sliptrick Records
Grievers are Italians and have one full length album released long time ago, in 2010 and it’s called Reflecting The Evil. So, it`s been 7 years since then and the band is back with new EP which has a beautiful front cover as you can see above.
The EP is a modern sounding metal core with guitar breaks so characteristic to the genre but there is more to it. There is one moment in Ade song where they accidently played almost Four Seasons of Vivaldi, just a seconds on guitars but it is very nice to hear tune as such among aggression and progression of their music. It`s not the first Italian band with classic music influences (even if just a little) but I am very glad to hear that endlessly now and hopefully in the future. Also, they have very catchy shreds – like guitar mazes and rhythms which you can hear at the end of Ade song and in other tracks, too.
Grievers have a vocalist who screams, growls like death core metal bands do. They have a bits and pieces of thrash and death metal in song structures which is very good because it does not feel like a record with just one music genre in. The expanded songs to give it more atmosphere and space for instrumental passages which you can hear best in Revenge but they used this formula to attract arrangements of other songs with rather success. Fortunately, they do not rage songs too much so the music does not cross extremity. I am sure that they could go with those songs much more aggressive live but on the record they found the sound which is just fine.
The production of The Eternal Pleasure Of Revenge is very cool and smooth and in my opinion, this EP it`s very good representation of the band and the music.
