Gôr Mörgûl
Elohim
Satanath Records/Death Portal Studio
Gôr Mörgûl is an Italian blackened death metal band and so is the music of the album. They take no prisoners and play either fast or very fast songs, very furiously. A sound of the album is hellish and brutal. Also all instruments have very selective sound. A drummer plays obsessively cruel blast beats which is a bit monotonous and overproduced. Fortunately the drums are not very fast all the time because the paces of the album changes. A more crafty side of the band are guitarists - their blistering and ferocious death metal riffs. They have slower and heavier moments in tracks with little more guitar textures which is better because if they had only constant blast beats with this rumbling sound as they have, that would destroy the efforts of the band. I like those 2 death metal songs with acoustic guitar which they play few times. It`s still fairly rare in extreme metal to manage brutal sound with acoustic flavours but I think it`s a good idea that makes music sounds more absorbable for human ear.
It`s a demonic death metal album, mixed with black metal guitar tones. Aggressive growl vocals sound pretty ordinary and solid which help Elohim being a better album.
As you can see from some song titles, Elohim is about literature and themes related to old mythologies - gods, demons and such. It`s a good lyrical fit for Gôr Mörgûl and their blackened death metal songs that they harvested for you on this record in form of extreme music.
Album is in the vein of Dargonomel, Behemoth, Nile...
My best songs: Elohim, Extinction
