Gnida
R.A.K.
Defense Records
R.A.K. completes trilogy of albums that Gnida has started out many years ago with albums S.Y.F. (2012) and A.I.D.S. (2016). R.A.K was recorded, mixed and mastered in several locations: Poland, Norway, U.S.A. which gave the album decent sound quality and clarity of music.
It`s a grind core album consisting of 16 short tracks, which is not much of a surprise, because grind core bands usually have very concrete songs which can kill your hunger for sonic brutality faster.
Pace of songs varies; Gnida plays music at middle and faster tempos, barely slowing down a pace in songs. Album has some simplicity that grind core usually has, but Gnida also delivers some guitar dissonance in tracks (2,12) or technical moments (5,10), or those with short progressive (1, 14) structures. Other song (6) - sounds a bit like death metal ala Decapitated in the beginning of the track, but no, in the core, it`s surely more grind core record. Album is also heavy and has a bit of slam death metal at times (3, 12), but quite frequently it is very fast and intense (1,16...) record – a combo of grind core and death metal with blast beats and always brutal growling vocals. It`s rather not a grind core/punk release, tracks are bit more advanced technically than that, but surely, they were not overdone in moments when music is a little more complex. Those progressive elements in music that they have (including few guitar disharmonies) and fast & heavy guitar breakdowns (7), it all makes a grind core by Gnida a solid album with quality and brutal music. They do not sound as much as other grind core bands - at least I was not thinking about other band names when I was listening to songs of Gnida, so you could say that it gives them points for making music their own way.
I like when bassist is active and more present in music generally, which he is on this record, and you can recognize it by his metallic sound of bass that has been given to their rhythm section.
Gnida also delivers groove (6) with little melodies attached to it, or, there are some catchy but mandatory brutal, rhythmic guitar arrangements (8) that sound pretty cool too. So, no songs are the same on this record.
