Global Scum is a project/band of Manuel Harlander from Austria, who plays on every instrument and produced the album all alone - except mastering which was done by Christian Schmid (Suicidal Angels, Fire Force...) from Music Factory Studio. The album sounds really good and brutal. If you did not know that Odium was recorded by one person, you probably would think that the Global Scum is just a regular band with more musicians involved.
Odium is a groove metal album which incorporates elements of thrash metal (Fake as Fuck - superb thrashy guitar riffs and groove, Mental Anxiety – fast and aggressive), death metal (Assassins, Call For Resistance), hard core/nu-metal (Feared, Full Of Hell, Disgusting Lust Of Madness - all killer tracks), grind/punk (no blast beats), experimental-industrial (Back Beats) and ominously sounding synthesizers (Lunatic). Martyrium which is sung in German is an intense music beast. A big FUCK YOU is in the air when you listen to Human Waste song, play it and check out the reason why...
Characteristic factors in the music of Global Scum are very angry vocals that strike you gravely and with rage and with hateful lyrics. Odium criticizes social dysfunctions, human abominations &perversions and the madness of the world in many ways. There`s huge diversity in Manuel` vocals when he spits out a meaning of his words.
The album has influences from Ektomorf, Soulfly, on many levels. If you like these bands, Global Scum is the next one you should be aware of their sonic potential and wrath.
