Formis
Chaozium
Defense Records
Every time, there is another Silesian band on the horizon like Formis, I gladly put my senses on music and do a little search about the band. I always experience first class served metal from that region to say at least and this band keeps this trend going.
Formis is based in Sosnowiec/Poland and was formed after few musicians left the band Iscariota which, by the way is in my list of top 10 Polish bands. With such crucial background, Formis have released 2 highly expected albums (Perfect Excuse, Mental Survival) and Chaozium is their third and second one released by Defense. The music is on the other page than Iscariota and I think it is always a good thing to have different albums you can choose from and listen to.
This half an hour full length is what I`ve always liked and appreciate in death metal; its technical and progressive side of it. Formis is stunning doing their neat guitar shreds which are comparable to bands like Sceptic, Death, Arch Enemy and even Behemoth. Playing death metal not always means being brutal which; this album is a perfect example of. Maybe because they have a little thrash that shine on death metal structures of the songs but foremost, this band gave those tracks their own character and really beautiful craft so I focus on it, not much on genres. As every technical album you need to give music some time to perceive for you its strength and quality. Believe me, this album demands a little patience to get to it essence but it`s worth it. There is no better feeling when you finally realize you can find a connection to music and you can reach satisfaction from something you like, which I did. Every song has a different face, not often go the way you would think but it is what complex metal is about. Vocals tell you different stories thanks to very specific vocal frequencies of Marek and lyrics, sang in Polish. Guitar rhythms/leads, solos and drums it is something you must hear to see how passionate they form a skeleton of their music to give you precious, detailed death metal songs in return. Formis plays a bit of everything including melodies, intensity, aggression and they have ability to put all elements together that work for the album just fine.
They used some skills of guest musicians from other bands like Frontside -(Dariusz Kupisz), Planet Hell, ex The No Mads -(Przemyslaw Latacz), Infernal War, Voidhanger -(Krzysztof Michalak).
Sound of Chaozium runs blood for every instrument very smoothly and this is nothing you have to worry about as they`ve done production of Chaozium very well.
The music is on really excellent level and it is hard to imagine they could have done this album better at the time so... All eyes and ears on Formis!
