Diuna
Piła Do Pomników Przyrody
Piranha Music
Diuna starts off this EP pretty slowly. First minutes of the music sound very post-doom metal. Crushingly psychedelic riffs and sludgy guitar distortions, it quite takes me on the journey...This opening track is over 9 minutes long but it does not matter at all, because I kind of lose myself for those simple tunes the band delivers here... Bass brings certain obscurity to the sound of the band. Latter tempo goes up a bit more, which reveals dirty and kind of original production of this mini-album. At this point, music and album production it slowly convinces me to the songs of the band.
My best track of this record is Zapraszam Do Wiednia Na Walc where music and more poetic lyrics work very well as a whole composition. Vocals sound nostalgic and I like singing of a vocalist who changes the way he plays with his voice - bitter words are delivered melodically, yet pretty dark, in avant-garde manner. Groove and heavy riffs in this song are completed by dynamic guitar harmonies that you can hear in the end of the track.
Podłość is vocally more intense song, music is more anxious, aggravated, still psychedelic. I like those post-metal, fuzzy/jazzy musical variations in and between third and fourth minutes that do not sound like anything else they have written for this album.
S/T track is more melodic (there are fragments in their songs where they play like that). It`s more stoner`ish track with extra saxophone performance that shine more light on music of Diuna. End of the track is jazzier but as you know, Diuna is something else...No vocals delivered in this song.
Lyrically it`s pessimistic album, musically - a dark dance of shadows in post metal/sludge convention.
