Dira Mortis
Euphoric Convulsions
Defense/MyThrone Promotion
Euphoric Convulsions is re-edition of 2012 sold out album, released by label Let Them Die. New press was made in 2019 by Defense/MyThrone Promotion which comes with new artwork design.
For those who do not know, Dira Mortis is crawling among zombies of the underground since the beginning of our millennium. Their death metal has not change that much since their first music steps, only the sensation of “stench” coming from their death metal sound and grave-crushing songs is more effective in killing than before. I know, because I`ve heard most of their releases and they slowly but surely are making progress for band`s music as they did for Euphoric Convulsions some time ago and do it again now.
I like a concept of this release that feature some weird and thrilling intro type of tracks, before and after each of regular death metal song of theirs. Dira has a vocalist that is born for singing in death metal band. Łukasz Glinski's low growls raise hordes of the dead from their crypts as if he had power over them by frequency of his vocals. Music on the other side is like a giant monster, when this band plays slow - walls will shake like during earthquake. When guitarists (Leszek Makowiecki on guitars, Mscislaw on bass) and drummer (Krzysztof Saran) play in the up-tempo groove, the music feels like they drill through your skull so your death would be quicker. Do not expect melodies from them, Dira Mortis are death metal band with doom metal aesthetic where all hope is lost. This band and this release have something dreadfully overwhelming, dark and a bit haunting. I can easily relate their old school death metal to bands like Psychomancer, Asphyx which are alike Dira Mortis music-wise. Thanks to the combination of condense Polish-Swedish sound, Dira Mortis sounds the way I want to listen to the music of this band! Best songs in my opinion are Exultation Full Of Sadism and Intoxicadead Visions which will tear you apart.
