Cosmonuts
Leaps Of Fate
Sliptrick Records
Cosmonuts from Greece is all about progressive, rock, blues and more...
Opening song Why do we still care? introduces the band vocally (you hear some strange lyrics, weird accent and also some melodic singing). Plus you get a glimpse of rhythm section from the band and how they gonna sound and play. Not much you can do within 1 minute and 27 seconds, which is the length of the track, so, digging what next felt mandatory...
Definitely more regular song musically is the track called Flesh and Bones. Sound like funky rock with melodic vocal verses and very dynamic, bluesy/jazzy guitars, bass and drums. I think it`s the best song of this EP because music is more accessible, sound like something that you do not have to think much about but enjoying instrumental dynamics and positive energy of music comes to me naturally.
Last song totally changes its musical trajectory toward musical exploration. First 3 plus minutes are space psychedelic rock based on guitar improvisations. There is a dynamic moment after that with more active drumming, a subtle vocals and keyboards...When they came back from there, their vocalist has started to sing those weird sounding verses, similarly like in the first song. There is fine guitar solo next, a bit moody but melodic vocals and atmospheric background delivered by keyboard player. At some points it feels like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin but nothing really obvious, Cosmonuts band members have their own way to play music and potential to explore musical boundaries as they want to.
I like this EP instrumentally. No song is the same here.Overall vocals delivery is okey, melodic, I do not care about accent, for this reason it sounds even better.
