Slaughtering angels, spawning demons, raising the dead and other blasphemies belongs to lyrical content of this album which is ignited by the band in hellish realms.
Comatose hails from Philippines. Asia is still uncharted metal territory for my knowledge and that`d be good to change it, though. The Ungodly Lamentations has very rough production, just like a demo, and they sound “bad” - if that was their intention, only record quality is not that good...It`s brutal death metal album. Music is in the vein of Deicide (track Forever Reign Supreme) and Hate from Poland (they did similar music to Comatose in early 90`s already). Comatose songs are even more chaotic, also guitar solos. All music suppose to sound visceral which it does, only the sound is too flat, and the songs sometimes give me hard times unless there are some good riffs on the way. Vocalist with his guttural vocals tries really hard to spit out all the hell-fire and nightmares with his vocal efforts, and I would say that outcome is not too bad. Guitarists play brutal and archaic riffs, a lot of shredding stuff, eventually some rhythms but this album seems to work, only if you are die hard fan of the genre. I am aware that Comatose was not that experienced death metal band at that moment of time when album was released (2018), but fingers crossed. They not always sound like European or American death metal band which is good.
