Coffinfish
Epilogue
Unquiet Records CD EP
I am having just good days for writing some reviews recently. I am so glad to have a local band to mention on these pages once again. Circumstances are even more in fovor because their label is also Cracow/Poland based and I reckon they doing absolutely fine with their bands and releases that conquers new music connoisseurs as time passing by.
There is a certain group of people that speaks good words about Coffinfish and slowly but successively the band getting their growing recognition and attention through new music and ground breaking concerts they are part of. I am a fan of short music presentation in form of mini CD as this one is. 21 minutes, one song. What else could be better in knowing the band if I hear them for very first time? I think this song is just perfect for acknowledgement.
Technically the CD has a genuine cover art works which several panels contain symbols and dominating colour is grey. People that are fancy to dig some mysterious symbols and discover their meanings will be overwhelmed doing so. ...Great way to challenge yourself.
This is how it goes with their music then...
Writing one long song seems a lot of space for artistic freedom and yes, Coffinfish is taking advantage out of it. Epilogue starts terrifying me by making weird sounds for like 2 minutes and this time is still unsettling with the band. Later on when guitars go out of its senselessness and vocals appears, at 6th minute they starting their trance giving it all blow up for good. Something like Hammond keyboards appears making music flawless and they still going harder to sound heavier for another countless moments. They are slow and mid-paced and they are born to make that cold and ripping universe atmosphere. A vocal doing what music requires and symbiosis is completely achieved. Yeah, they surely allow themselves to enslave the universe so it serves its purpose, their own imaginary or music world. Coffinfish are Lovecraftians of sound. I really like that. A record ends up quietly as nothing has ever happened but I will remember this band from now on as they deserve their spotlight pretty much. Metal and post metal fans have no choice but check them out.
