Cicatrix
Suffocated Faith
Infernum Media
I flashback some memories from 90`s or early 2000`of being in touch with a band and from that special times I still have their 3 early demos:
Unearth - 1996
Disable - 1997
Eviscarated - 1999.
I am happy these cassettes survived its time bacause I have seen people digging this stuff very much nowadays. There is a huge gap between that period and this new album so I can`t tell much about their other music that was not on my stereo equipment since then but I am glad that Cicatrix is back to me with a new music.
So, here is another 6 years they needed to record new album and the band have changed a label which is now Infernum Media but fuck the shit out of me! This band is still brutal and I guess they have never been as extreme as they are now. I have written in the other review that there is a certain Polish sound that bands like Dead Infection, Straight Hate circle with each release and Cicatrix has it! I can hear that Suffocated In Faith inherits that monstrous sound from the albums like A Chapter Of Accidents and Brain Corrosion with slight but important differences in music. This basically makes identity of grind/death scene in Poland so you can recognize it at once you play it and you can hardly find it in other places on Earth. Cicatrix is a part of this movement and makes it stronger with this album.
Suffocated Faith is a low tuned on guitars and grind their way using death metal influences. Vocals are rotten like a throat of reanimated dead body left on the sun for weeks. I really admire sharp drumming here and distinct sound it gets. Songs are simple but perfect and I think Cicatrix dag out pretty cool elements from grind and gore. It`s stunning when they go really fast with blast beats but also when turn out with heavier riffs which sound pretty gross with lyrics. And this way I keep up with the album and liking a band more with every moment spent.
Among their own compositions, Cicatrix chose to cover two songs from giants of underground grind-death - Dead Infection and Terrorizer. They managed to fit both tracks on the album superbly. The length of the CD is nearly 30 massacre minutes and I guess this dose of brutality should keep you alive, predictably...Or you go to visit intensive care, possibly...
