Blues For Neighbors
From Roaming About
Road Rat Records/Grindhouse Gospel
Blues For Neighbors come from Wrocław, Poland. The lads (and there are only two of them) play a lot of instruments wonderfully, and I can't even point out what weaknesses this album could have in terms of song performance, which is fascinating. For example, a man with the nickname MG devoted himself to play on 5 instruments and he does vocal on this album. The other one - PO, he had played 3 instruments and also gave his vocal abilities for the good of the band . What are the types of instruments used in this album, I will write while writing this review. For the uninitiated, I`d like to inform that Blues For Neighbors is not a metal band at all, so if any of you are open to other music trends, you definitely can find your heart in music of this band. The band plays a captivating mixture of southern rock / country and blues, where songs duration seems to be perfect choice between not too long nor too short compositions.
The album is rich in extensive guitar arrangements, catchy, southern rock tunes, peripheral vocals and choirs (Mr Ike) that sound stunning on the basis of well sounding acoustic guitars, that in a mix meet a seductive sound of mandolin, clawhammer or banjo. The atmosphere of the album is very western (Dead Man Boogie), and even hotter when I hear a harmonica sounding great (Dark Prayer Blues). The song Dead Man Boogie is a simple composition in which the vocalist delivers drama in his voice. Of course there are also lively songs (Sally In The Garden - instrumental track that will make you dance in circles). Song entitled I Suffer with different types of guitars (also relevant instruments) and its sounds can be treated as extension of what is beyond the average, surely - in metal music, and what is not, surely in Southern rock/country album as this one. A bit more moody song with humming and Southern guitar tunes is Falling Trees. If someone likes to keep stamping their feet to the rhythm of music, I think the song Smoking With Satan will be perfect for that.
From Roaming About by Blues For Neighbors , it is something that I listen to with sincere pleasure. I recommend the album!
