BlackSnake
Lucifer`s Bride
Defense Records
Diabolizer Records
It`s a second album of the band that was out in 2013. A few months ago I wrote the review of their third effort called Blood Of The Snake which is a hell of a good album I have to tell you. So, we will have a little perspective on part of band's discography at this very moment but I can announce now that I`ll look back on Blacksnake`s debut album in next months as well. So, fingers crossed and luckily, at the end of 2018 you will be able to read about all their albums since the beginning of the band.
-S/T song deserves to open the album for sure. It`s packed song with melodies and rock and roll vibe. Very good guitar work, nice Hammond sounding keyboards and some guest co-male-female vocals that sound like children`s...Sweet and hooks! So, I am eager to continue with the music...
-Number two is another good song. A track with good-monumental sounding keys (solo performance is really good) and this album is just better with Hammond`s shit around. They also throw on music some guitar groove and the dynamics of the song are just fine.
-When I listen to Legacy Of Rock, I am meeting a spirit of Motorhead in music of this Polish band. But with Blacksnake`s melodic vocals and good written lyrics, things somehow go a bit different but, good for them.
What I like about Black Rider foremost are stoner`ish guitar solos and 1 or two guitar leads, those more melodic ones.
-Red Death is more groovy track. It`s mid-paced song with ...”It`s killing me”... refrain that sound pretty nice. Often simple things are best and this song sounds imperfect but cool.
-Warning is next one. Few catchy seconds are not enough to make it best song on the album. This track would work for me better as instrumental song, I do not know why, it just felt for me this way when I heard it.
-Broken Heart Blues starts off with acoustics and a rasp of vinyl record. Another track with chilling co-lead vocals of guest musician - Gabriela Domanasiewicz who sang some good vocal lines here. A saxofon, country music, rock`n `roll vibe is pretty much everywhere in this song. It also has some from American rhythms - here and there. I like Blacksnake when they write songs like this one and think totally out of the box about the music.
-Number eight is driven by amazing guitars, catchy riffs. It`s angrier song lyrically but has really incredible guitar tunes and solos. I am not sure why Rootwater and none death metal era of Neolithic comes to mind when I listen to it but it`s definitely some good staff here.
-Iron Ground is back to groove and faster tempos. The song is more energizing and have melodies wherever they can find a space for it. Simple track with little touch of keys which atmospheres the music a bit.
-Say Goodbye To Heaven is a last song here. Sharp guitar riffs are soaked with Lemmy`s whisky but who cares, it`s fucking good song to close up the album. I think this track is a triumphant end and I am going to smoke some dirty cigar to show off some satisfaction I have had from playing this CD.
It`s well done album that have some hooks and have few strong, catchy songs: 1,7,8,10 and these are some amazing tunes. However I would not spread a massive euphoria about this album at that point of band`s activity, which was 5 years ago. Especially now, when they already made it much better with Blood Of The Snake album, few months ago...
