Azure Emote
The Third Perspective
Selfmadegod Records
It`s strange album that is not easy to listen to. The music goes often sideways and it`s hard to call a specific genre upon this album. A sound of the record is death metal and growling vocals obviously belong there too but everything else is just out there...
There is some technical guitar playing that shifts toward heavier sounds or melodic groove. Female, symphonic-like vocals are very refreshing, keeping me away from being devoured alive by a brutal sound of the band and all that weird ideas that are part of their abstract music paintings conveyed to songs. Male clean vocals usually sound powerfully, like sort of hybrid-god from Marvel movies. Each track has a characteristic sound of synthesizers that is different for single songs. For example, synthesizers in Loss are alike music background from 90`s era of aerobics, first computers and games. I think Loss is the best track of the album because electronic music patterns are the easiest ones I can relate to and song feature possessively good melodies. Other electronic-related arrangements of the album are mostly played pretty fast, in kaleidoscopic manner. The other elements in music are violin, trumpets, piano, keyboards and more electronic effects, so the sound of the band is very rich, diverse; trying to reach out to what is unexpected.
Guitar leads make each song sound very differently and only very few times the band takes me on the ride with blast beats. They made this album a big field for experiments with sound and intense music sensations.
Azure Emote put so much music ideas to certain moments of the album at one time that it is too much to comprehend sometimes. The one could say that it`s avant-garde metal album and it should not be surprise, but they just often take music over that point where songs start to sound ridiculous or overwhelming. In case of this album it almost all the time and you can experience that you are under attack of constant changes to your self-being which is caused by songs of the band. Sometimes it feels good, sometimes I just have hard time to absorb what they want to tell me musically. It does not have to be an album that is hard to listen to unless you want to go through the music and challenge it many times...Either I`m listening to this album or just think about what I just heard, The Third Perspective is still kind a metaphysical mystery for me...
